Mumbai on high alert, Fadnavis reviews security

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday asked the police to be on high alert following the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Mr. Fadnavis, who accompanied Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the launch of the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's London residence now converted into a museum, telephoned Maharashtra Director General Praveen Dixit to review the security situation in the State.

“CM has instructed the DG to exercise utmost care and be on high alert to prevent any untoward situation,” an official at the Chief Minister’s Office said.

The police have placed Mumbai on high alert after the metropolis woke up this morning to the horrific Paris terror attacks.

“We reviewed the security arrangements at all key sensitive installations and locations where high footfalls are expected, including top hotels, key shopping malls, railway stations, market areas,” said a senior Home Department official.

Quick response teams such as Force One commandos and NSG commandos were put on alert.

Speaking to D. Sivanandhan, former Director General of Police, said the Paris 13/11 attacks had stark similarities with the Mumbai terror attacks.
