MiraMed Global Services eye India healthcare market

CHENNAI: MiraMed Global Services, a premier global provider of business process outsourcing solutions to healthcare organisations, has set its eye on the Indian healthcare sector.

Chennai-based Ajuba Solutions, a subsidiary of MiraMed global, said that it would enter India after forging tie-ups with healthcare majors to offer electronic medical record service. For the last 15 years, Ajuba has been doing back-end jobs for the U.S healthcare sector.

Ajuba, which employs about 3,400 medical coders in six locations in Chennai, mainly caters to the aging population and Obamacare in the U.S. market.

MiraMed also has a small presence in the U.K. and an 800-seater centre in Manila.

Talking to Ajuba founder and group CEO, Tony Mira said: “In the last 18 months, our focus was on training our staff on new coding system proposed in the U.S. healthcare sector and serving the clients under new regulation. We gave adequate training to our staff and ensured that the transition was smooth. The transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 gave a huge opportunity for companies like us.”

As medical records in the U.S. are electronically managed, it was an easy transition for MiraMed and Ajuba. MiraMed plans to approach Indian private hospitals to evaluate the key processes, he said.

“All the blue-chip firms in the U.S. are our competitors. MiraMed-Ajuba is the only firm to provide full length services. India has talented workforce. Over the next three months, Ajuba will make a foray into Tier-II cities in Tamil Nadu to scout for 300 medical coders to service the U.S. market,” he said.
