National Premier chess from today
The temple town of Tiruvarur will see bright minds battling it out for glory at the ONGC 53rd National Premier chess championship, which begins here on Sunday.
The championship, organised by the Tiruvarur District Chess Association (TDCA), will see the participation of 14 players. Defending champion GM S.P. Sethuraman, GM Vidit Santosh Gujrathi, who was one of India’s top four players based on the July 2015 Elo ratings, and the top 12 of the national challengers held in August would vie for the honours.The total prize money is Rs. 10 lakh. The event concludes on Nov. 28.
