‘Notices to teachers who burnt G.O. copies’
Cases registered against protesters
Minister for School Education K.A. Sengottaiyan has said that notices had been served to teachers who burnt copies of a government order during a recent protest.
The Minister told presspersons here on Saturday that cases were registered against teachers who attempted to burn and burnt copies of GO No 303 that prevented them from getting the pay on a par with the Union government teachers.
“They have right to protest democratically, but not the way they did,” he said. Notices were served on teachers seeking their explanation after which action would be initiated. He said that an one-man committee set up by the State government to rectify pay anomalies of government school teachers was expected to submit its report in a few weeks.
Erode-based Sakthi Masala Pvt. Ltd. has sought government contribution for starting a home for differently-abled children who lost their parents. The issue would be taken up with the Chief Minister, he added.
