Bollywood’s biggest #MeToo scandal broke on Sunday afternoon with director Rajkumar Hirani being accused of sexual assault in a report in
The complainant is a woman who worked on the Sanjay Dutt biopic, as a post-production crew member between March-September 2018.
The accusations came to light when the survivor recounted her abuse in an email, written in November,

Desai to respond to the accusations.
In a public statement, Mr. Hirani said, “I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or any legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false, malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation.”
For over a month, the talk in Bollywood circles suggested that Mr. Hirani’s alleged misconduct would surface soon. Two days ago, it was reported that Mr. Hirani’s name would be dropped from the posters of the upcoming
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga.
The poster of the Sonam Kapoor-starrer originally credited both Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films.
The 56-year-old filmmaker has delivered some of Bollywood’s biggest hits, including the two ‘Munna Bhai’ films, and 2018’s highest grossing which was a box office hit.
