The Tamil Nadu Chinnathirai Iyakkunargal Sangam (TANCIS) organised a protest at Chepauk on Sunday, demanding that assistant directors working on projects for the small screen should have a standard pay structure.

“We have been appealing to the Producers’ Association for television projects to ensure that a standard pay is fixed for assistant, associate and codirectors. So far, they have been receiving remuneration that vary across projects and there is no uniform system,” said Thalapathy, president of TANCIS.

Actor and Director K. Bhagyaraj who lent his support to the association, said that it was necessary to bring in a standard system.

“I have appealed to the producers to hold talks with the assistant directors and other members of TANCIS so that a solution can be reached,” he said.
