Met JD(S) MLA’s son: Yed­dyu­rappa

‘Ku­maraswamy scripted the con­ver­sa­tion’

Reversing his ear­lier stand, for­mer Kar­nataka Chief Min­is­ter B.S. Yed­dyu­rappa, on Sun­day ad­mit­ted that he had met Sha­ranagouda, son of Gur­mitkal MLA Na­ganagouda Kand­kur. Mr. Yed­dyu­rappa’s ad­mis­sion came a day af­ter Congress lead­ers urged the Chief Jus­tice of In­dia to take suo motu no­tice of the con­tents of an au­dio clip re­leased by Chief Min­is­ter H.D. Ku­maraswamy, in which the BJP leader is heard try­ing to lure Mr. Sha­ranagouda to join the BJP.

Ear­lier Mr. Yed­dyu­rappa had dis­missed the au­dio clip as mimicry.

Speak­ing to re­porters at Hub­balli air­port be­fore the ar­rival of Prime Min­is­ter Naren­dra Modi, Mr. Yed­dyu­rappa, how­ever, ac­cused Mr. Ku­maraswamy of writ­ing the script for the record­ing.

“Mr. Ku­mar­swamy is in­dulging in third-grade pol­i­tics. It is true that I met Shankar­gouda [Sha­ranagouda]. Mr. Ku­maraswamy sent the MLA’s son to me to make me speak ac­cord­ing to their re­quire­ments and then used what­ever was use­ful for them. But they have cov­ered up a few truths,” he said.
