Met JD(S) MLA’s son: Yeddyurappa
‘Kumaraswamy scripted the conversation’
Reversing his earlier stand, former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, on Sunday admitted that he had met Sharanagouda, son of Gurmitkal MLA Naganagouda Kandkur. Mr. Yeddyurappa’s admission came a day after Congress leaders urged the Chief Justice of India to take suo motu notice of the contents of an audio clip released by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, in which the BJP leader is heard trying to lure Mr. Sharanagouda to join the BJP.
Earlier Mr. Yeddyurappa had dismissed the audio clip as mimicry.
Speaking to reporters at Hubballi airport before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Yeddyurappa, however, accused Mr. Kumaraswamy of writing the script for the recording.
“Mr. Kumarswamy is indulging in third-grade politics. It is true that I met Shankargouda [Sharanagouda]. Mr. Kumaraswamy sent the MLA’s son to me to make me speak according to their requirements and then used whatever was useful for them. But they have covered up a few truths,” he said.
