Kolkata-based WNW showcases its bridal collection at Aquaab

The Hindu - - CHENNAI -

Aquaab, a city-based fashion store showcases bridal collection by Kolkata-based WNW. On display are saris, lehengas and gowns with intricate zari embroidery, cutdana work among others. The colour palette includes beige, ivory, red, maroon and orange among others. The garments can also be customised.

WNW was founded by Rita Bhotika in 1999, along with her two sons Harsh and Ankesh. Kolkata is one of the most significant clusters for hand embroidery.

Most of all the embroiders trace their lineage from Karigars in the Mughal era who were then commissioned to design and dress for the rulers. WNW focusses on this lineage, says the founder.

The brand offers latest colour palettes on one hand and traditional, skilled craftsmanship on the other. The journey of the brand began with dying handkerchiefs which then later started concentrating on the craft.

WNW also claims to incorporate avant-garde bespoke designs and intricate craftsmanship on materials. The bridal line is bold in its thought, content and presentation. Developed by the in-house design team, each WNW gown or lehenga is designed for the modern-day Indian bride, concludes the founder.

The collection can be found at Aquaab, Poonamallee High Road. For further details, 7530062072
