IDEAL LIVING
Exceptionally beautiful homes from India and abroad
BLANKPAGE Architects and Karim Nader Studio create magic with Villa Kali located on the coast of Lebanon. Situated in the front of the Mediterranean Sea, in the town of Mounsef, the villa offers picturesque views of the stunning beachfront and the sightlines to the sea.
The luxury beach-front mansion took shape in four years, all thanks to the stupendous efforts of architects Patrick Mezher and Walid Ghantous of BLANK PAGE Architects, and Karim Nader of Karim Nader Studio. Every single detail of the home was planned with utmost care to reinterpret and create a relation with a series of environmental aspects of the site and the villa itself. The sunshine, the air, the rock formation of the coastline on which the home sits poised and embraces the
seashore; every little detail was taken into consideration.
Taking inspiration largely from the nearby rock formations in terms of its composition, which includes overlapping levels, the home features several bedrooms that surround an open courtyard with a water fountain. The layout is similar to traditional homes where the rooms are grouped around a courtyard. The distinguishing factor here is the courtyard that opens up completely towards the sea. The two side volumes of the home with connecting bridges are created at an angle, thus allowing them to embrace the horizon, while letting the sea flow through them. Adorning
the external void created by the two volumes is a cascading spine with a terraced staircase and water pools that flow down gently from the entrance level, all the way up to the seaside garden via the bridging reception area. Further, an ample staircase leads from the garage to the reception area, which is set in the very core of the house. Around this are the public areas like the living room, the bar, the gym, the kitchen, that can be totally opened up by means of a sliding glass door system. Furthermore, the two upper floors contain 11 bedroom suites, each having stunning views of the shoreline, the sea and the other living rooms.
What really sets the home apart is the dramatic architectural language of the house that is inspired by the stratification of the nearby rock formation on the shore. Additionally, the sea itself is a part of the villa as the water and the salty breeze converse with the monumental architectural elements.
