Priyam Hazarika’s love for handmade products led her to work towards a sector that needed much attention and many efforts. She initiated her journey by working with the poor and deprived women in rural areas as their talent was a reason enough for her to step into the market and showcase their works to the world. “I feel happy when these women come and tell me about how they purchased a new thing for their home or how they got their child admitted in the school. It feels good to see them build self-confidence,” she smilingly tells. The products range at Nature Trade includes baskets, table mats, foot mats, dining table mats, handbags - all handcrafted in natural jute fibres. As she witnesses the market evolving, supporting and embracing Indian handicrafts, she believes her journey has just begun.

Manjuri learnt the art of designing from her mother who used to be the designer of the house. From house to fashion, her mother was an all rounder and that helped Manjuri in picking the right career. Having worked with many known names in fashion industry, Manjuri used to design handbags and stoles on a small scale. “I have worked for many export design houses but the best part was working with renowned label Abraham & Thakore. The creativity inside me got wider and wider,” recounts Manjuri. She credits the birth of Kritenya to her husband, who encouraged her to work individually and helped her in creating her own line of soft furnishings. “I just love doing the creative part. I keep every bit of our fabric till I have used it to the last possible way. Meeting and talking to the weavers, and listening to their stories have become a part of my daily routine,” laughs the designer. Her brand puts forth some of the finest weaving techniques and Assamese crafts in soft furnishings like cushion covers, stoles, handbags, table runners, etc. Manjuri sells her creations through her website www.kritenya.com
