THE FLOAT HOUSE RIVER KWAI RESORT, THAILAND
The Float House River Kwai Resort is a fancy boutique hideaway. The only way to reach the resort is by boat as it actually floats on a flowing river surrounded by thick green jungle. Each luxurious and spacious floating villa is totally private and rich in custom tailored-made teakwood furniture with thatched roofing. The design is delightfully impressive with exotic decorations including natural materials and ropes. The design concept for the resort is known as “Contemporary Boutique Folk Style,” for a smooth blend of local artistic traditions with the natural environment, yet different from anywhere else in its characteristic rope designs that convey an oriental air. The elegant boutique-floating villas (Total 90 sqm/villa) are tastefully decorated in Thai folk style design with teakwood furniture enhancing the comfort and harmony with nature. Good Hotel, London was transported from Amsterdam – where it popped up for a year in 2015 – and is now continuing it’s social mission in London. It is a unique example of philanthropic endeavour that offers employment and free training to the long-term unemployed in the community. Resembling a shipping container, with small windows and what looks like astroturf on the roof, you reach it by crossing a short bridge over the river. Inside it has a surprisingly calming industrialchic design. Boasting 148 rooms including 4 suites, panoramic waterside views, open plan ‘Living Room’, quirky and cosy, but minimalist design, and a beautiful rooftop bar - the hotel is full of personality and with a view every Londoner would love to wake up with.
