The enchanting Sunflower villa from Ontario, Canada

This beautiful villa oozes a lot of warmth. Neutral wall colours, furnishings and finishes, added colours give a touch of beauty to the decor. The raw-edged wood entry table and birch branches, curvy shapes gives a glimpse of what the interiors of the home is to reveal. As you enter the foyer, there are steps up to a short hallway that leads past a small powder room, to the main stairwell in the centre of the home. Beyond the stairs the plan opens into an open concept layout. That means you see everything in the space at the same time. First is the dining room. The space is distinguished by a large chandelier centered over the table and an area rug underneath. From here on we move to the main living room. A large bay window on one wall and fireplace on the other are the main focal points. The furniture is light-weight, modern and compact to give a feeling of spaciousness. The decor flows to keep the eye moving around the space. So the living room, dining room and the kitchen are in total sight-line and look cohesive.

The spacious kitchen is light with white cabinetry and sleek stainless steel appliances. Glass, and open upper cabinets, with interior lighting, offer storage and display space. A simple arabesque patterned tile adds a punch

of colour in the back-splash. The penninsula offers more seating space for casual entertaining or quick snacks, while the eatin breakfast area offers access to the backyard. The kitchen sink is a modern, stainless steel

interpretation of the farmhouse apron sink and the microwave oven is built into the lower cabinets for ease of operation. A pantry/servery is accessible off the kitchen for more preparation space and storage. On the main floor, the flooring is a neutral, medium-toned oak. It starts at the front of the house and leads to the living room at the back of the house. The flooring changes to a porcelain floor in the kitchen and eat-in area. The oak flooring continues up the stairs and into the bedrooms. Porcelain floors are in all the bathrooms and ceramic tile is in the second floor laundry room. Recessed lighting is placed throughout the main floor, and into the bulkheads in the living room. The lighting is augmented by pendant lights, chandeliers and table lamps, throughout. Walls and furniture are purposely kept neutral, as are the furnishings. This allows the decor to tell the colour story. Accessories and art on the main floor injects colour - organic, natural elements and curvy shapes help soften the edges of this linear home and make it warm, while still presenting a modern vibe.

The kitchen is planned with plenty of natural light to stream inside. The white wooden cabinets and the glossy table top are a great combination.”

Grabbing attention are the fabulous colour shdes in the rooms. The cushions, bed-spread, and the lighting compliment each other beautifully.” The bedrooms on the first and the second floor don’t disappoint, and follow the same rules as the ground floor with plenty of storage.”
