SAZ

KOLKATA

This one-of-a-kind place at Camac Street, Kolkata is a gourmet food kitchen bringing American comfort food to your vicinity. It’s interiors are a mix of the evergreen classic and new age aesthetics. There are quotes featured on walls in bright LED light, and the couched seats are topped by pop art featuring Pharell Williams, Lady Gaga and the like. Cleanly buttoned leather seating takes comfort to the next level, while the old world charm is retained by the classic chandeliers and lighting. The monochrome checkered and striped flooring is just the right contemporary touch that separates this place from being too classic, and also adds a slight vintage appeal. Its lighting is diffused and dim making it fit for a night of dancing over coffee flavored cocktails. This place has added glam to the Kolkata restaurant offerings and is a must stop place for anyone paying the eastern city a visit.

THE BANGLORE STREET CLUB

BENGALURU

This new entrant is a budding concept in the Indian subcontinent. This all-in-one space is a collaboration of different food concepts, new artists, drink experts, and innovation at its best. There are both indoor and outdoor seating options, with a great view of the Bengaluru skyline. The checkered off-white tiles cover its food stalls, with cane pendant lights gazing from atop the space. It’s a feel-good contemporary ambiance, which immediately makes one feel comfortable and welcome, with no sophisticated grandeur and just a simplistic minimal feel. This place gives off a comforting and welcoming buzz and you immediately feel part of it while enjoying one of the many live performances that take place here. Reserve a table or just walk into this space and start a conversation either over the delectable food or the absence thereof of the Bangalore traffic noise. If one could describe this place in three words it would be comfortable, chic and minimal.

ROOH

DELHI

An experience which they call cosmopolitan, Rooh is at Ambawatta One, inside a refurbished 150 year old Haveli. Chic to say the least, it is eclectic, warm and vibrant all at the same time. Located in the lush suburbs in Mehrauli, you can get a perfect view of the Qutub Minar from one of its arched windows. Blush hued leather chairs along with the rattan ones, compliment the ivory walls and arched openings alluringly. Reserve a table for two on a Friday night for the perfect lighting and a mix of contemporary Indian food for a charming date. Warmth, not only in the ambience and beverages, but a cozy, acquainted and comforting culinary experience is the essence of the winter menu at Rooh.

MAHE

GOA

Situated in the heart of Goa, Mahe is a romanticised example of the coastal culinary experience. It is the bringing together of contemporary nuances and familiar food paying a stunning tribute to the vast Indian coastline. The vision of the founders has resulted in a carefully updated century-old Portuguese house into a modern culinary experience. The main house offers two different spaces – the Blush (bar) & Jade (dining) rooms with light, breezy elements that create an intimate dining experience along with statement bars. There’s also a large garden space that brings out the quintessential Goa experience with white pebbles and lush, varied foliage. While the inherently voluminous characteristic and lovingly done restoration of the home lend the place a nostalgic, warm vibe, minimalist French pastel highlights, Scandinavian inspired details and modern Indian digital art bring out a fresh, modern lightness.
