The Ideal Home and Garden

FROM THE EDITOR’S DESK

-

I’ve found it hard to write my editor’s note this month as I was in a dilemma about which stories to highlight this month. This month has been full of surprises and a host of events. I visited the world’s biggest decor fair Ambiente 2020 and that’s when I decided to change features and shoots, that will be a part of the March 2020 edition. Of course my team didn’t kill me, they were very supportive and excited about it. Reason: Colours are back! No, we are not talking about earthy and pastel tones, rather all the dark hues that you can think of! The fair was full of colours from tableware to wall art, planters to wall hangers and decor pieces. Our newly appointed Features Writer Arushi took the burden to go on a virtual tour with me and wrote to brands from across the globe for this feature. And believe me, the end result is not just exciting but also very fulfilling.

While we saw black making a huge splash in bathroom last year, black is back in interiors this year. It will be pleasant to see nordic colours like black and grey in Indian homes too, only if we can make play nicely with the overall look.

My work also took me to Jaipur this month. Though I have been to the city for leisure trips on multiple occasions, I have never came back as amazed as this time. I think it has everything to do with the people (designers, architects, artisans and peers) I met during my visit. I am way too inspired and my brain is filled with ideas-to-do. Hoping to start new events/ editions soon.

And with all the fast, flashy culture today, how about a little refinement? Here’s to living and loving well, and cherishing the memories we make.
