How many times have you reached for that can of matte white paint to cover a ceiling in an otherwise colorful ROOM? We’re making a case for the fifth wall. take notes!
The widely ignored space in the house - it’s time to get inspired by the ceiling
“To create a curated space with a feel with pieces that were collected over time, the walls are painted in crisp white to have the art speak and stand out. The idea was to create an interior design project that reflects the clients’ style and personality, always pushing the boundaries of style and design a bit further.” - Laith Abdel Hadi for Boca do Lobo
“Over 750 pieces of custom-made four-sided beveled extra clear mirror laid in a Chevron pattern places with the intent to bring in as much ‘green’ and natural light into the room. The fact that the mirror is beveled on four sides, takes away a lot of the starkness of the mirror to give a very subdued, yet dramatically bold impact. The ceiling, no doubt, is a special feature and leaves quite an impact to say the very least.” Geetanjali Anand, Andy Home
“Almost all the timber used in the house - from the planked false ceiling, to the timber floors - is reclaimed teak. The minimalist materiality provides a suitable backdrop for the clients’ extensive art collection, and for integrating reclaimed architectural elements into the home.” Sidhartha Talwar, Design Principal, Studio Lotus
“In this day and age of social media, it has become increasingly important to create instagrammable spaces. Human eye immediately responds to anything out-of-the-box. Ceilings are usually a clean plate, so why restrict your design to the floor and walls.” Sanjyt Syngh, Interior Designer
