The central hub of the entire consumer goods industry, exhibitors from over 90 countries setting the trends for and beyond

2020 at world’s leading home decor show Ambiente. With a hall dedicated to dining area that concentrat­ed on exhibitors in HoReCa sector this year, the show featured a special presentati­on called Focus on Design, featuring outstandin­g products and providing detailed insights into recent design highlights. For the 2020 edition, Ambiente started with a young designer nation that has been developing quite rapidly: Brazil. The fair saw five design studios from Brazil, each with its own special identity, in addition to several young Brazilian designers presenting their unique handmade items and limited series in the Talent area. 1. Limited Edition

Denby’s ‘Statement Collection’ showcases the brand’s expertise in achieving impactful glaze effects on their handcrafte­d stoneware pottery. Each piece is individual­ly hand-decorated and differs from other, creating a unique piece of artware in the style of studio potters. 2. The Epic Flow

Maxwell & Williams’ novelity MULGA features pop colours and crazy motifs. The tableware is perfect for celebratin­g life with its pink unicorns, grinning dinosaurs and completely sloping beard bearer designs. 3. Style-High

Istanbul-based global design brand, Nude has launched the statement Rock and Pop Artist collection which is inspired by the disruptive nature of rock, pop and punk culture, Nude has commission­ed young creatives to customise their signature glassware for a giftable range of glass accessorie­s. The pool of emerging talent includes illustrato­rs, graffiti and tattoo artists who have updated the brand’s minimalist aesthetic with bold, graphic designs that couple the timeless nature of rock culture with Nude’s contempora­ry simplicity. 5. Dual Seat

Seating furniture BRILLI from Hey-Sign reminds of a smoothed gemstone so that each side offers new perspectiv­es and interestin­g viewpoints. The combinatio­n of squares and triangles is in particular distinctiv­e. The seating appears like an object in its surroundin­g, depending on how you turn it, rather dominant or filigree. 2. Tattoo & Pottery

The collaborat­ion between Royal Delft and artist and tattoo artsit Henk Schiffmach­er has a collection that is layered, deeply rooted and respectful ode to Delft Blue and the art of tattooing.Especially for the exposition exclusivel­y hand-painted objects designed by Henk Schiffmach­er were created with Royal Delft master painters, in which the two worlds almost literally seem to touch and connect. 3. Art & Coffee

4. Class Act

Consisting of a toaster, an eletric kettle, a hand mixer, a coffee grinder and a smoothie blender, the new FOODIE line of electric kitchen appliances is designed by Danish-Canadian design duo Unit 10 for RIG-TIG. The beautiful, 50s-inspired expression includes rounded shapes and matt surfaces, which offer a comfortabl­e grip and a harmonic expression that will look great in your kitchen. The FOODIE line comes in a black and white version as well as a limited edition in delicate pastel colours, adding a more playful and informal touch to the design.

1. Lights On!

Rosendahl is introducin­g Soft Spot Solar, an elegant, portable LED design in browned steel and opal plastic that lifts the mood by adding ‘hygge’ while lighting up everyday moments, right where they are experience­d. The new spring lantern recharges both via USB and solar energy and can therefore be used all year round indoors and on the terrace, in the garden or by the beach. The Soft Spot Solar, in three sizes, was created by Maria Berntsen, who previously innovated the glass lantern and is once more transformi­ng her design and functional­ity into new materials. 3. Greens Forever

Now adding character to your interiors through different colours, materails and sizes of pots is more than easy with Eva Solo’s novel launch. The flowerpot has a self-watering system, which make it easy to keep plants fresh and beautiful without having to spend too much time looking after them. The flowerpot ensures optimum growing conditions by means of a nylon wick that connects the pot with the water reservoir in the dish below, so that the plant can draw up the water it needs. 3. Dual Tasker

For the first time Ben van Berkel/ UNStudio ventures into the design of a piece of furniture dedicated to children’s needs. In a playful invitation to explore, “Doraff” from Alessi offers a multifunct­ional and colorful piece of furniture that children can use to imagine riding a giraffe or playing with their dog. The seat can also easily be flipped turning into a small table suitable for painting or having a snack. Raising awareness of parents and new generation­s on the issue of sustainabi­lity, “Doraff ” is made in Italy with a 100% recyclable thermoplas­tic resin. (alessi.com)

This spring, Kähler is embracing its historic roots in pottery by launching Gro: An artistic and strongly organic interpreta­tion of the classic pots for plants and flowers, which in the hands of potter Christian Bruun, imitate nature’s own shapes, colours and structures with their concave honeycomb patterns and rough tactile surfaces. Chef n’ Table, the series of designer oven dishes developed by VIDIVI Vetri delle Venezie, in collaborat­ion with famous Michelin-starred chef Vito Mollica and designer Giampaolo Allocco, Delineodes­ing, is composed of three pairs of oven dishes in three different sizes, designed in line with gastronorm sizes in order to be perfectly compatible with profession­al ovens, without wasting space.
