Exquisitely closing the gap between Indian artisans and craftsmen, and the interior market, Fanusta is here to reinvigorate the Indian crafts space.
Shailander Kumar of Fanusta on reinventing the Indian arts and crafts
Fanusta, is a brand that is named on two fundamentals in the sphere of handcraft, Fan meaning ‘art’ and Usta symbolizing ‘master’. It is no wonder then that Fanusta has created a continuously growing ecosystem for traditional craftspeople and contemporary designers to co-create and take Indian art and craft to multiple spaces globally. They aim to rediscover and celebrate the traditional art and crafts of India through the creation of home products that are a unique combination of age-old mastery and new-age design. The CEO and Founder, Shailander kumar discovered that there is a vacuum when it comes to platforms for local artisans and craftspeople. There are hundreds of artists who face problems selling products, earning healthy margins and working on new designs. So, Fanusta was started to provide multiple avenues for these ingenious artisans and craftspeople which would allow them to perceive their art as a profitable revenue opportunity and not just a part-time hobby. The artists and craftspeople work with Fanusta’s team of designers to develop novel décor products that can make art functional while also exposing global designs to traditional art and crafts.
At Fanusta, one can find everything for their home or office decor and interior needs. From wall arts, sculptures, table decor to furniture and utility products, most of which are hand-crafted and art-infused. Locating and onboarding artists is the main challenge that they face with spirited vigor. From providing them regular income to allowing them their creative space, Fanusta takes decisive steps to ensure that the artists feel connected, protected and supported by them. And the result of these efforts are the mesmerizing Fanusta products that are a unique amalgamation of art meets functionality. Arts forms are splendidly used here on furniture, kitchen utility products, wall arts and a whole lot of other products, that give a feeling of both traditional crafts as well as contemporary artisanal products.
Indeed, Fanusta is artistically reinventing Indian craft and is now looking to expand the avenues for these artisans and craftspeople even further by launching INDESIGN by Fanusta, their interior designing arm, where they introduce the products of their own artisans and craftspeople to the Interior designing sphere. In 2020 they are also planning to open five “House of Fanusta” retail cum experience stores across the country along with INDESIGN by Fanusta interior solutions, which will provide a one stop destination to get any space designed skillfully. Fanusta’s unique approach is successfully gearing to provide even wider exposure to Indian artisans and craftspeople, by bringing a plethora of opportunities to experiment and innovate with their moving crafts.
