YOUR DESIGN JOURNEY TILL NOW
Growing up in an apartment in a heritage building in the colonial neighbourhood of Opera House in south Mumbai, rooted my aesthetic sensibilities into timeless design and spaces. While my work is extremely versatile and we design modern to classic spaces, at heart I love pure materials like stone, wood and bricks. I studied interior design from the Sophia Polytechnic though it was the internship I did with Finelines designers, headed by Sunil Jasani and Sangeeta Mansharmani that actually got me involved and hooked onto this profession. After working with them for 4 years I went on to freelancing as an associate with prominent architects on residential projects for 9 years. In 2008 I started my own design studio from a tiny office in a leafy bylane of Bandra. After designing homes and offices for prominent businessmen and industrialists, I went into designing hospitality spaces, starting with Silver beach cafe and going on to designing 85 bars and restaurants nationally. My journey in design began 24 years ago and has been very enriching and fulfilling. Every new project, when reaching completion is like giving birth to a baby that you nurtured with love and attention!
A MAJOR CHANGE IN DESIGN AESTHETIC OVER THE YEARS
My aesthetic has evolved over the years and I enjoy designing eclectic spaces which are timeless. In my earlier years in design I did not experiment too much with colours, but now I’m very open to adding vibrant colours to spaces.
