Integrating major structural changes, Shivani Gupta and Ayush Mittal of Lalittya by Shivani Ayush overhauled the entire aesthetic and functional appeal of this 4,500 sq.ft. apartment to better serve the needs of its owners. The DLF Magnolia home is a statement in opulent expression, that is tempered perfectly using the creative and elegant vision of the designers.

The clients, Parminder and Gurpreet Singh, wanted a dream home that would reflect all that they had been working towards. Shivani and Ayush reveal, “The couple had given us the freedom to creatively design something very much like their personalities; honest, homely and luxurious. Simply our inspiration for the house was the couple itself.” The 4BHK apartment was completely reduced to its bare bones, in order to convert it into a 3BHK apartment where each charming space is in accordance with the socializing and routine requirements of the couple.

Doused in an appealing monochromatic palette, the home has been given character using the careful integration of colours in the form of art and other interior elements in every space. Right from the entrance lobby the feel of a modern Indian home is invoked here, where exquisite paintings and gold-based accents add a rich allure. These include a majestic tear drop chandelier and spiritual paintings depicting parts of the Bhagwat Gita. And as one moves further into the house, spaces like the entertainment area, the living room and the dining room flow into each other, making the space appear bigger and more interactive. Each of these areas has been given a distinct look, and yet they meld into each other seamlessly,

to the serve the couple in their ability to impress as hosts of get-togethers for loved ones.

The designers are quick to point out that the powder room in the house was the most difficult to make decisions for. Shivani explains, “According to the Vaastu consultant the only way to get a WC in the powder room was to place it in the middle of the space and also connect to

the daughter’s bedroom with an invisible door.” A dash of gold and green is added to the black and white colours of the living room, so as to give this space a bold look that is simultaneously luxurious.

As for the private spaces, two separate bedrooms were combined together to create a spacious master bedroom that has a walk-through closet and a dresser area. Oracle Grey Italian marble flooring, along with the bed back partition give this room a distinct character. And the rooms of both the daughter’s are given a softer look by utilizing pastel colours, while the herringbone laminated wooden flooring creates a warm space for the daughter’s to grow up in. These room are a materialized reflection of the exquisite abode that has been designed to facilitate timeless memories for this family of four.
