To resolve customer complaints in a month

TAKING NOTE of grievances raised by scores of buyers who are reportedly awaiting possession of flats constructed by Amrapali Developers, the Noida Authority, has asked the builder to resolve issues within a month. The authority also said it will form teams to carry out weekly checks on various projects in the area.

The development came after those investing in houses built by the Amrapali Group took to social media, raising concerns about the “absence of occupation certificates and facilities”. A group of buyers approached Noida Authority, seeking redressal of their grievances.

According to Noida Authority officials, over 60,000 buyers, including those investing in Amrapali properties, have been unable to register their flats due to non-payment of land dues by the builders. “This is not limited to projects of one builder. Builders in Noida have not been able to pay around Rs 300 crore in land dues. This amount needs to be paid to receive occupation certificates. If they do not have an occupation certificate, they will not be able to get possession of the flat. They will not be able to transfer ownership of these flats to the buyers,” said a senior Noida Authority official.

Officials added that of nearly 127 residential projects under construction in Noida, as many as 86 have not received occupation certificates.

“For all these projects, a sum of Rs 7,200 crore in land dues needs to be paid to the authority. Builders have maintained that some sort of a scheme should be brought into place under which this sum can be paid in installments. We are looking at these concerns,” said the official
