ROAD RAGE IN EAST DELHI

A 25-YEAR-OLD farmer from Faridabad was shot dead after a rented Innova he was travelling in brushed past a Ford Endeavour on Sunday night. The victim, Deepak Bhadani, and his family were returning from a wedding in Kondli village when the incident took place. The accused, identified as Yashpal Singh, a businessman, has been arrested.

The cars brushed past each other at east Delhi’s Dallupura intersection at 11 pm, police said.

Police said Bhadani was sitting in the second row on the right side.

“When the cars brushed past each other, Bhadani rolled down the window and told the accused to drive properly. Singh, who was alone in his car, allegedly got agitated and warned him not to argue, or else he would shoot him. But Bhadani did not relent and Singh allegedly took out his licenced pistol and shot him. Both men were in the car when the shooting took place. The victim was hit below his ear, while Singh fled the spot,” police said.

Police said Bhadani was rushed to Metro Hospital nearby, where he was declared brought dead. Police said the accused was heading from Noida to Kondli. A lab report is awaited to ascertain if Singh was driving under the influence.

Bhadani’s relative Sukhbir, who reached the spot 10 minutes after the incident, alleged that police took half an hour to arrive.

“The accused was speeding, so Bhadani told him to drive carefully, otherwise he would kill someone. The driver asked Bhadati to stop lecturing him, or else he would kill him. That was the only provocation. Others were so scared that they couldn’t overpower him, even though he was alone,” said Sukhbir.

He added that Bhadani was married five months ago and owned a small piece of land in Mohatabad village. He was the only earning member in his family.

Sukhbir said Bhadani had rounded up his family to attend his nephew’s wedding.

“Bhadani had told me that people in cities are different from those in villages, which is why he was managing the baaraat to avoid any trouble,” Sukhbir said.
