Baijal invites ideas at first official meet

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

IN HIS first meeting with secretaries and department heads, Lieutenant-governor Anil Baijal invited innovative ideas and told senior government officials “to ensure that there is timely delivery of services to the people of Delhi”.

The meeting comes two days after Baijal was sworn in as the L-G of Delhi. In the meeting, which lasted about 30-35 minutes, Baijal told officers to keep the city clean and green and also asked them to attend to citizens’ grievances promptly. “It was a general meeting with all officers. The L-G was getting to know the officers and the various charges they hold,” said an officer who attended the meeting.

“He said that issues before the administration should be critically examined since these have not cropped up suddenly but persisted over time,” the official said.

Meanwhile, the L-G’S Twitter handle, launched on Sunday, faced a peculiar problem. Two alleged fake Twitter handles, using the name of the newly appointed L-G, put out misleading posts critical of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s government. The L-G has ordered an inquiry into the fake Twitter handles.

“L-G office has asked the Delhi Police to look into the matter and initiate strict action against those who are running fake accounts,” sources said, adding that the matter will also be taken up with the authorities of the microblogging site, if required.

The official Twitter handle is @Ltgovdelhi.
