AAP DELHI convener and Environment minister Gopal Rai on Tuesday began the party’s door-to-door campaign ‘Jail ka jawab vote se’ from the East Delhi constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with Shahdara’s Vishwas Nagar being his first stop.

“If the people of Delhi want a working Chief Minister to be released from jail, then the only way is to respond with votes and jhadus,” Rai said, adding that under this campaign, AAP leaders and workers will visit every house across the city on behalf of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and educate them about all the work done by the AAP government.

“The vote is the power of the people, and we believe that after Kejriwal’s arrest, the emotional connection between the public and the CM has deepened even more. This time, everyone will come together to defeat this tyranny (by BJP) and get him (Kejriwal) out of jail,” said the senior AAP leader.

“The entire city knows that Kejriwal has been put in jail by the BJP, as part of a conspiracy. We will not let BJP succeed in its conspiracy under any circumstances,” said Rai.

The campaign from the East Delhi Lok Sabha constituency was carried out with slogans such as ‘jhadu (broom) ki chot se, jail ka jawab vote se’.

On Monday, AAP launched its campaign for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, with Rai announcing that “it will become a movement soon”. He also appealed to the Delhi residents to vote for Kejriwal, if they think the CM has worked for their betterment and Delhi government schemes benefited them.

“You do not have... (to) be scared of BJP. This is our democracy, you press the jhadu (broom) button and cast your vote to Kejriwal... make him win. Every single vote will help break the locks of Tihar and bring Kejriwal out,” he had said.
