INDIA bloc spreading falsehood on dilution of Constitution, says Modi

PM: Congress has done injustice to the Constitution

- SHUBHANGI KHAPRE

WARNING PEOPLE not to believe the INDIA bloc’s false narrative on the Constitution, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying the party, which was spreading falsehood on dilution of the Constitution, never implemented it in the entire country when in power.

Modi was addressing a campaign rally at Ramtek in eastern Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. “In the last seven decades the Congress never implemented the Constitution across the country. They have done injustice to the Constitution, whose architect was Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. It was the NDA government which for the first time ensured its uniform implementation after abrogation of Article 370. Through Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was accorded separate rights,” he said.

“The Congress is deliberately weaving false narrative on dilution of Indian Constitution,” Modi said.

It was Modi’s second poll rally in three days in Vidarbha region, where polling for five constituencies—nagpur, ramtek, bhandaragondia, Gadchiroli-chimur and Chandrapur — will take place on

April 19. On Monday, he addressed a rally at Chandrapur.

Reminding that Ramtek was a sacred place touched by the holy feet of Lord Ram, Modi urged people to convey his “Ram Ram (regards)” to elders, men and women in every house.

Seated on the dais were Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, NCP’S Pr aful pa tel, deputy cm dev end ra Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. The Mahayuti has fielded Raju Parve from the Shiv Sena led by Shinde from Ramtek.

“This election is not about electing an MP or a government. The mandate in favour of nd a will amount to preserving the thousand years old rich Indian legacy, culture and tradition,” Modi said. Warning that the INDIA front would divide the country, the PM said the opposition was creating rift within communities.

Referring to his government’s decision to abrogate Article 370, he said, “For the first time it accorded justice to Dalits, adivasis and women in J&K.”

“Similarly, a false notion is being spread about CAA. It’s being done as Congress does not want to see the poor, Dalits, tribals and women progress,” he said. “It was NDA which honoured a Dalit son from a poor family, Dr Ram Nath Kovind, asthecountry’spresident. It was NDA which made it possible for Dr Droupadi Murmu to be the President,” he said.

“The last 10 years of development is just a trailer. We have big plans to make the country developed by 2047,” he said, adding to ensure development of Vidarbha region people will have to ensure NDA’S success in all seats. Of the 48 LS seats in Maharashtra, Vidarbha region has 10.
