Witnessing distortion of Ambedkar’s ideals, says L-G; AAP hits back

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

AS AAM Aadmi Party leaders on Sunday took an oath to save the Constitution on the birth anniversary of BRA mb edkar,D el hi L-G V KS axe na said that there was a need to embrace his ideas, and not just his photograph. Without naming AAP or its leaders, Saxena said a total distortion of Ambedkar’s ideals was being seen “just to cling on to a position of power at any cost.”

Remembering Ambedkar on the occasion, Saxena posted on X: “Baba Saheb’s ideals of constitutional/ democratic morality, though not mentioned in the text of our Constitution, because he thought of them to be enshrined in our hearts and heads, were specifically against dynastic politics and illusionary attachment to seats of power ... his sense of detachment militated against unprincipled attachment to power. Alas, what we are witnessing today is total distortion and subjugation of every value that he stood for, just to cling on to a position of power at any cost.”

Responding to Saxena’s post, senior AAP leader and Timarpur Ml a di lip pan dey said ,“l-g sir has made a very astute observation. He is correct in saying that Modi ji has developed attachment to power and authority in the Central government and under the influence of this power and authority; he is shredding the Constitution to pieces. I have full faith that the Honorable Prime Minister will definitely take cognizance of this tweet and, for a change, will follow Baba Saheb's Constitution and desist from making his MPS talk repeatedly about changing the Constitution.”

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 21 in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy case, and is now lodged in Tihar jail.

While the BJP has demanded his resignation several times over the past few days, accusing Kejriwal of “hanging on to power despite being arrested”, AAP has reiterated that the “CM will not resign, and run the government from jail, if required”.
