Babu Singh Kushwaha to contest from Jaunpur

Th esp sunday declared its candidates for seven more LS seats, including Jaunpur, Phulpur and Shravasti, which will go to polls in the sixth phase on May 25. The party also changed candidates in two seats–bad aun and sultan p ur.

SP said Aditya Yadav will replacehis father shiv pal in bad aun, paving the way for the 35- year-old engineerin­g graduate’s electoral debut. The SP had announced to field party chief Akhilesh Yadav’s cousin Dharmendra. Later, it announced Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal would contest. but an sp workers’ conference in Sambhal proposed Aditya’s candidatur­e for Badaun. Of the seven candidates, at least four were associated with the BSP in the past.

From Jaunpur, the party has fielded president of Jan Adhikar Party(jap) ba busingh ku shwa ha. Once considered an aide of BSP chief Mayawati, Kushwaha was Minister for Health and Family Welfare int heb sp government in 2011 when he was expelled from the party in wake of the alleged National Rural Health Mission scam. A year later, he joined the BJP, only to be removed. In 2016, Kushwaha formed JAP.

The SP has fielded two-time BSP MP from Sant Kabir Nagar Bhishma Shankar ‘Kushal’ Tiwari from Domariyaga­nj. From Phulpur, it fielded Amarnath Maurya who was denied a ticket in 2022 Assembly polls. From Shravasti, the SP has fielded sitting MP Ram Shiromani Verma, who recently quit BSP to join the party. SP has fielded Laxmikanth alias Pappu Nishad from Sant Kabir Nagar. From Salempur, it has fielded Ramashanka­r Rajbhar who had won in 2009 ls poll sf orb sp. from Machhlisha­hr SC reserved seat, th esp has fielded priyasaroj, daughter of 3- time MPTuf an iS aroj.
