FOR THE last three weeks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been looking for biometric details of gangster Rohit Godara, who is now accused of planning a firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra on Sunday.

Godara was also allegedly involved in the murder of Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi last year and in the killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022.

Godara is a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and handles all the operations of the gang from the UK. “With the help of the authority concerned, the NIA wants to deport him from the UK as they have assured them of easier deportation,” a source said.

Godara fled to Dubai from Delhi with a fake passport. “Lawrence Bishnoi during questioning told the NIA that he has a ‘business model’ involving alliances with jailed gangsters from Uttar Pradesh (Dhanajay Singh), Haryana (Kala Jatheri), Rajasthan (Rohit Godara) and Delhi (Rohit Moi and Hashim Baba). In this alliance business model, they take contracts for toll security and share percentage. Also, if they want to eliminate their rival, they provide shooters, along with weapons, to each other,” a source said.

Bishnoi during his questioning also claimed that he had Khan in his crosshairs over the 1998 case of poaching of two black bucks, which is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.

A source said one of the two shooters, Vishal alias Kalu, was allegedly involved in the murder of a Gurgaon-based bookie, Sachin, on March 2. “Sachin was gunned down in Rohtak. After the incident, Godara took responsibility for the murder,” the source said.

Godara is a resident of Bikaner and is named in more than 35 criminal cases, including murder and extortion.
