Sunita to make 2nd appearance at INDIA bloc stage in Ranchi
AAM AADMI Party (AAP) Convener Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita, accompanied by two senior party leaders, is scheduled to fly to Ranchi for her second appearance on an INDIA bloc stage in less than a month, sources said.
According to AAP insiders, the Delhi Chief Minister’s wife, who took centrestage at the INDIA rally at Ramlila Maidan on March 31 and has been given the responsibility of a star campaigner since, will represent the party at the ‘Nyaya Ulgulan Rally’. Organised by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) at the call of Kalpana Soren, wife of former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, it will be held Sunday.
Sunita will be accompanied by fellow star campaigners Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. “The party will decide on whether Sunita will deliver a speech at the event or not but both Bhagwant ji and Sanjay ji will certainly address the audience,” an AAP insider said.
According to insiders, the trio will visit Bharuch in Gujarat — which it is contesting along with Bhavnagar — later next week.
Earlier this week, the name of Sunita Kejriwal was placed below that of her husband in a list of 40 star campaigners for Gujarat which has 26 Lok Sabha seats and goes to polls in the third phase on May 7.
“After they return from Bharuch, all three are likely to become active in the party’s campaign for other seats that go to the polls in separate phases including Delhi,” an insider said.
“However, since the Capital will see voting in the second-last phase, Sunita ji might become active in terms of campaigning only by May so that the party’s campaign in the city peaks around the day of polling. The party has enough time to chalk out a plan for campaigning featuring all three due to this,” the insider added.
Flanking former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and with leaders from around two dozen Opposition parties, even as two empty chairs marked the absence of their respective husbands on the dais, Sunita and Kalpana had delivered speeches in quick succession on March 31.
