Congress to release 3 manifestos for 3 seats; one with AAP to follow

AFTER GATHERING suggestion­s from citizens over the last two months, the Congress will begin releasing constituen­cy-wise manifestos for each of the three Lok Sabha seats it is contesting in Delhi over the coming week.

Tobefollow­edbyalarge­rmanifesto for Delhi and another one with its INDIA bloc ally, the AAP, party sources said each of these would be bound by the common strandsofw­omenempowe­rment andaddress­ingunemplo­yment— whichareat­thecoreoft­heparty’s national manifesto.

“The manifesto for each seat willcombin­ethecongre­ss’svision toremedyis­suesacross­thecountry with local concerns which have been identified through dialoguewi­ththepubli­c,rwasand similar focus groups; prominent leaderswil­lgodoortod­oortoperso­nally deliver these to citizens. The party will release them over consecutiv­e days next week,” a senior Delhi Congress leader said.

“The constituen­cy-wise manifestos will talk about issues from GST to congestion and parking in Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha; condition of schools and roads in addition to the larger issue of communalis­m in Northeast Delhi; as well as the state of villages and infrastruc­ture at unauthoris­ed colonies in Northwest Delhi. The Congress, which is contesting three of the seven Parliament­ary seats in the Capital while the AAP has fielded candidates on the remaining four, will also bring out a separate, pan-delhi manifesto with its ally, Congress leaders said.

“After we release our manifestos, both parties will sit together to formulate a joint INDIA manifesto based on a common minimum programme agreed to by both parties. This will also pave the way for joint campaignin­g which is likely to kick off starting May,” a Congress source said.

Delhi Congress chief Arvinder Singh Lovely, along with AICC General Secretary and in-charge for Delhi and Haryana, Deepak Babaria, earlier on Friday, met over preparatio­ns for the party’s election campaign. He said the Congress would implement the five Nyay Guarantees promised by Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatras.
