- MAHENDER SINGH MANRAL

TO STOP CRPF personnel from posting “departmental issues” on social media, an order has been issued from the force's Delhi headquarters asking all personnel to avoid sharing internal matters on social media.

The direction was issued days after DG, CRPF, Anish Dayal visited Manipur and discussed the same issues with them.

A communication, issued on April 16 by an Ig-rank officer from the Delhi headquarters, said, “Regarding sharing of internal information of CRPF on social media... during his visit to Manipur – March 11-12, DG (CRPF) flagged a point pertaining to use of social media in matter relating to various departmental issues. Such casual sharing of information causes significant damage to the image of the organisation and also exposes various establishments of CRPF to security threats.”

It also stated, “...All should desist from such unwarranted behaviour which brings disreputeto the force. in order to prevent such ir responsible behaviour of personnel, the competent authority has desired that the force personnel maybe sen sit is ed in order to desist from sharing internal matters of CRPF on social media .”

An officer said the direction came after it was noticed that many personnel were posting images of their posting with arms on social media and showing their locations. In some posts, they also raised departmental matters after tagging news reports. “We have asked earlier also, and asked for strict compliance, but they are still posting pictures on social media. They deleted only when we reported the matter to their branch concerned,” he said.
