LAUNCHING ITS campaign song — a rap number title d ‘ Jail ka jawab vote se’ — the Aam Aadmi Party ( AAP) on Thursday announced that it will kickstart the next phase of its ongoing campaign from Saturday with roadshows and rallies, which would see Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of its jaile d convener Arvind Kejriwal, meeting the public.

Making the announcement at an event that saw a chair left empty for Kejriwal, AAP’S Delhi convener Gopal Rai said: “Next phase of the campaign will start from April 27. Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal will go among the public with the CM'S message.”

Sources said Sunita Kejriwal, who is already campaigning in other states, will lead the roadshows and rallies in Delhi. She may start campaigning for East Delhi candidate Kuldeep Kumar from Kondli area on Saturday. She is also likely to hold a roadshow for West Delhi candidate Mahabal Mishra from Tilak Nagar to Dwarka on Sunday, said sources.

Speaking about the song, Rai said: “We have observed the importance and role of theme songs in the previous polls and believe that this song will also play a significant role in gathering public support.” The over 2minute song has been written

and sung by senior AAP leader and Timarpur MLA Dilip Pandey.

With the words “jail ka jawab hum vote se denge, Aam Aadmi Party ko hum vote denge, taanashahi karne wale ko chot denge, jhadu par vote denge”, the rap song starts with Kejriwal saying “Bharat mata ki jai, Inquilab zindabad”.

The video then touches upon all the issues the party has been raising for the last many years such as corruption, exam scams, inflation, unemployment, poor infrastructure. The song also indirectly accuses the BJP of running a “dictatorship” at the Centre and benefiting only “its rich friends” and putting others in jail. The video shows the pictures and snippets of former ministers Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain, who are in jail in dif ferent money laundering cases, and ends with the voice of AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, currently out on bail in the excise policy case.

Rai further said: “We did not know that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP- led central government is so scared of him ( Kejriwal) that they will put him in jail...”

Pandey said: “The song reflects the sentiments of people and what is happening in society under the misrule of BJP...”

At the event which also saw senior leaders Sanjay Singh, Durgesh Pathak and Jasmine Shah on the stage, Rai said, “We will clean sweep BJP out of all seven seats in Delhi on May 25.”

Singh said: “If BJP wins by mistake, then it will be the last polls because after this, there will be no right to vote left.”

Commenting on the campaign song, Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) President Virendra Sachdeva said: “No matter how many pamphlets the AAP distributes or songs they play, the public will not support them anymore, and they will suffer a severe defeat.”

Meanwhile, even as the AAP is yet to announce a joint campaigning with Congress, leaders of the latter held a meeting on Thursday to chalk out a strategy for Delhi.

Chairman of Delhi Congress’s election management panel for Lok Sabha polls, Subhash Chopra, said: “Joint campaign committees will be constituted at the district level and below not only to forge a strong understanding with INDIA ally AAP but also to consolidate the campaign strategy.”
