Boy on way to school dies as car rams into bike; deliberate­ly run over: Family, friends

ON MONDAY morning, 16-yearold Aman Kumar left home for school on his bike with a friend riding pillion. A short distance away, they bumped into two other friends and offered them a ride. However, the group could never make it to school after a car rammed into their bike, resulting in the death of Kumar and injuries to his three friends, in Chhaprauli village in Noida Sector 168.

While police said the incident was a case of an accident, the victim’s family alleged the car driver, a 17-year-old boy, deliberate­ly ran Kumar over after the boys confronted him for hitting their bike.

Officials said that the victim was a resident of Shahjahanp­ur and was residing with his family at Green Beauty Farm in Sector135, Noida. His classmates held a sit-in protest in the area.

The car owner has been taken into custody, while the car has been impounded by the police. Officials said that Sharma's son, 17, was driving the vehicle at the time of incident.

“There were four students on the bike. The car first hit the bike from the back side. After this, the students and the car driver had a spat regarding the incident. In the meantime, the car driver started the vehicle again and moved forward.oneofthebo­yscameunde­r it and died on the spot. The deceased and the accused did not know each other from before and itdoesnots­eemtobeaca­seofany enmity,” said Manish Mishra, ADCP Noida.

However, the kin and friends of the victim alleged that the police were trying to save the accused. “The car driver hit the bike four times and ran Kumar over. Police misbehaved with the protesters who were demanding the arrest of the accused,” said Deepanshu, a friend of Kumar.

Officials said CCTV footage with regard to the incident has been recovered and officials are analysing it.

On the complaint of the father of the victim, a case was registered on charges of culpable homicide and the body was sent for post-mortem.

The deceased was a student of Class 8 at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Inter College, Muhiyapur. According to Veerpal, his father, he was going to school around 8 am with his friends Akash, Subhash and Arpit.
