Lasvit celebrates 10 years with laterna magica at Euroluce 2017
LASVIT CELEBRATES 10 YEARS WITH
Following last year’s successful presentation at the Salone del Mobile, LASVIT, the cutting-edge Czech based manufacturer of unique glass artworks, introduces new collections designed by Kengo Kuma, Zaha Hadid Design, Ed Ng & Terence Ngan and Yabu Pushelberg. The company also showcases an exquisite selection of its lights collection portfolio, developed together with world-renowned designers, legends of Czech glass design and contemporary Czech designers. This year’s show marks the 10th anniversary of LASVIT.
Interior designers Ed Ng & Terence Ngan and Yabu Pushelberg studio closely collaborated with LASVIT on custom projects and leveraged their shared passion for traditional craftsmanship combined with contemporary design. Their particular sensitivity working with space, light and imagination echoes in the Laterna Magica concept through their own signature styles.
This year’s exhibition, Laterna Magica, builds on the mutual relation between objects, light and space. The name is derived from an early type of image projector, developed in the 17th century. The original device used hand-painted sheets of glass, a lens and a bright light-source to project images in space. Using video mapping, LASVIT simulates this principle through glass objects and light to tell the unique stories of artistic visions revealed through glass. “We were interested in the architect’s perception of light as object in space and the materialisation of light.“adds Maxim Velcovsky, Creative Director of LASVIT.
The show concept also reflects a sixdecade memory of Expo 58 in Brussels, where Czech artists exhibited the greatest innovations of their time – the famous Laterna Magika multimedia theater as well as the works of outstanding Czech glass artists Stanislav Libensky and Rene Roubicek. Their designs are also included in LASVIT’S design lighting portfolio and will be displayed at Euroluce 2017. LASVIT is proud to present the work of these iconic designers, who set the standards for generations of contemporary designers and glass artists.
The brand LASVIT, founded in 2007 by Leon Jakimic, sheds a new light on Bohemian glass and takes it into the next millennium.
