TR Baalu ap­pointed DMK prin­ci­pal sec­re­tary

Chen­nai: For­mer Union Min­is­ter TR Baalu was on Fri­day ap­pointed prin­ci­pal sec­re­tary of DMK, re­plac­ing Du­rai Mu­ru­gan who was re­cently el­e­vated as trea­surer. Party pres­i­dent MK Stalin made the ap­point­ment. Hail­ing from Cau­very Delta re­gion, Baalu, was elected to Lok Sabha five times of which he rep­re­sented South Chen­nai four times. He was also elected to Ra­jya Sabha once, ac­cord­ing to party sources. He had served as Union Min­is­ter in the cab­i­nets of Deve Gowda, Va­j­payee and Man­mo­han Singh han­dling Petroleum, Nat­u­ral Gas and NonCon­ven­tional En­ergy, En­vi­ron­ment and Forests and Sur­face Trans­port and Ship­ping port­fo­lios, sources added. His son TRB Raja is an MLA rep­re­sent­ing Man­nar­gudi seg­ment. ENS
