Read­ing out the Supreme court ver­dict on the an­nounce­ment of free­bies to at­tract the vot­ers, Ra­jat Ku­mar said, “As per the ver­dict, no po­lit­i­cal party can an­nounce free­bies se­lec­tively, it can an­nounce sops in larger in­ter­est of the peo­ple.” How­ever, he has not clar­i­fied whether the Te­lan­gana gov­ern­ment can give the sec­ond in­stall­ment of Rythu Bandhu scheme in which Rs 4,000 per acre will be given to farm­ers in the month of Novem­ber. A de­ci­sion will be taken by the Com­mit­tee of the Sec­re­taries and it will be send to the Elec­tion Com­mis­sion for ap­proval.
