Chennai: Laws must be changed to tackle harassment faced by women and that rape is not the only crime for which the perpetrator can be punished, said singer Chinmayi Sripaada, who has recently levelled serious allegations against lyricist Vairamuthu, on Friday. She said, “The society has become ready to listen to stories of harassment faced by women in their workplace, at home and other places only now. Now, after victims have come out with their experiences of harassment, media houses, actors and others have taken steps to follow a no tolerance policy,” she said stressing that the delay in speaking out is only because society had been not supportive all along.
