I-T sleuths raid TDP MP Ramesh’s properties
A team of IT department officials from Tirupati visited the properties of TDP Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh in his native Potladurthi village of Yerraguntla mandal in Kadapa district and also in Hyderabad on Friday.
Different teams visited the MP’s residence in Jubilee Hills of Hyderabad and offices of companies owned by him and his relatives including Rithwik Constructions at around 8 am and searched till 5:40 pm. Ramesh was in New Delhi at the time of the raids.
According to sources, Rithwik Constructions, which reportedly went bankrupt in 2014 managed to bag contracts worth `3,658 crore on nomination basis and hand of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is suspected behind it.
Speaking to mediapersons in Delhi, CM Ramesh said he has been IT assess since last 30 years and the companies of his in last four years have paid a tax of `200 crore. He said previously, there were IT raids on his properties several times, but this time it was different.
“It was politically motivated one,” he lashed out. “But I have nothing to hide, and I will cooperate completely.”
He suspected that IT sleuths might bring incriminating evidence with them and plant the same in the properties they are raiding and wanted those conducting the searches to be searched first before the commencement of the raids.
Ramesh said IT department has targeted him as he has been the more vocal against the NDA government with regard to Special Category Status and implementation of other provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act.
Ramesh had taken up indefinite fasting in Kadapa a few months ago demanding establishment of a steel plant in Kadapa as specified in the AP Reorganisation Act.
