Woman Maoist killed in ex­change of fire in AOB

Visakha­p­at­nam: Meena, the area deputy com­man­der, and wife of Maoist area com­man­der Uday, was killed in an al­leged ex­change of fire with Grey­hounds per­son­nel in Andhra Odisha Bor­der (AOB) on Fri­day. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, the Grey­hounds per­son­nel along with the Odisha po­lice were comb­ing the AOB forests since the past three months fol­low­ing in­for­ma­tion about the move­ment of Maoists in the area. The Grey­hounds per­son­nel came face-to-face with a group of Maoists at An­dra­palle vil­lage re­sult­ing in an ex­change of fire. Visakha­p­at­nam Ru­ral Su­per­in­ten­dent of Po­lice Rahul Dev Sharma con­firmed that one woman Maoist was gunned in the en­counter. It is learnt that more Maoists were in­jured in the gun fight and Grey­hounds and Odisha po­lice are mas­sively comb­ing the ad­join­ing for­est area.
