As Mark started out as a forward for England, he would come up against Paul, a defender, on numerous occasions. The situation is less complicated now as Mark has become a midfielder.

Mark, who began life juggling between cricket and hockey, could have had a career with the former. The 33-year-old used to play age-group cricket and at one point of time counted the likes of Eoin Morgan and Kevin O’Brien as teammates.
