Mis­cre­ants rob 3 women in sep­a­rate in­ci­dents

THREE women were al­legedly as­saulted and robbed of around 20 sov­er­eigns of gold jewellery and cash in two dif­fer­ent in­ci­dents on Satur­day night. The Arum­bakkam po­lice has launched a hunt for a 45-yearold man who stabbed a 25-yearold woman with a knife and es­caped with her jewellery in Arum­bakkam on Satur­day. The vic­tim An­napoorani was stay­ing with her hus­band Sub­hash Ku­mar. The cou­ple is from Odisha and they were stay­ing at a rented house at NSK Na­gar in Arum­bakkam, said po­lice. On Satur­day, when Sub­hash had gone for work, Pacha­iap­pan who lives in the same lo­cal­ity, barged into their house and al­legedly at­tacked An­napoorani with a knife. He then fled the house with around three sov­er­eigns of gold jewellery. In an­other case, when M Vi­jayaku­mari was alone at her house in Vep­pam­pattu in Tiru­val­lur dis­trict, two un­known men barged into the house and held her at knife­point. The rob­bers stole ten sov­er­eigns of gold and `15,000 cash. Mean­while, when Suja Nand­hini, a neigh­bour, came to visit her, the rob­bers at­tacked Suja and stole her five sov­er­eign gold chain.
