Bike goes up in flames af­ter col­li­sion, two die

TWO youth died af­ter their bikes went up in flames af­ter a col­li­sion in Kancheep­u­ram on Satur­day night. Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice, V Har­i­ha­ran (28) a res­i­dent of Sen­thaman­galam vil­lage at Chen­gal­pattu, was rid­ing a bike with his neph­ews D Di­wa­har (16) and D Nitheesh (14) on the pil­lion. “When they were trav­el­ling to­wards Thirukazhukun­dram at around 8.30pm, their bike col­lided with an­other com­ing in the op­po­site di­rec­tion,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer. On the other bike was Praveen Ku­mar (25) from Malali­natham vil­lage near Nen­meli. He was rid­ing to­wards Chen­gal­pattu. “The ac­ci­dent hap­pened at Pul­leri on the Tirut­tani - Arakkonam high­way. Af­ter the two bikes col­lided, the petrol tube of one of the bikes broke and in the fric­tion, both bikes caught fire. While Har­i­ha­ran was charred to death, Praveen Ku­mar suf­fered griev­ous head in­jury,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer. Praveen Ku­mar, Di­wa­har and Nitheesh were taken to the Chen­gal­pattu GH, where Praveen Ku­mar was de­clared dead on ar­rival. Thirukazhukun­dram po­lice reg­is­tered a case and fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tions are on.
