Bihar’s newly appointed police chief Gupteshwar Pandey has sent a chill down the spine of hardcore criminals and corrupt policemen. The 1987-batch IPS officer, known for his successful experiments in community policing, has sent stern messages that he would not spare anyone breaking the law. Nine days into his new job, he made a surprise midnight inspection of two police stations in Patna and placed six cops, including the two station house officers, under suspension for dereliction of duty. “Even if a cop, he may be a constable or an SP, is found slack or corrupt, they will face action,” said Pandey, who also held a Facebook Live session to interact with both common people and policemen.
