CEO SMVDSB ded­i­cates In-hos­tel Kushti fa­cil­ity to Ka­tra

Chief Ex­ec­u­tive Of­fi­cer (CEO) of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB), Sim­ran­deep Singh ded­i­cated ex­clu­sive In-hos­tel Kushti fa­cil­ity to the young res­i­dents of Disha Ch­ha­travaas, Kad­mal in holy town of Ka­tra in dis­trict Reasi.

The CEO was so im­pressed with the joint ven­ture of Ka­tra In­dian Style Wrestling As­so­ci­a­tion, Kreeda Bharti J&K and Sewa Bharti, man­age­ment of Disha Ch­ha­travaas, that he as­sured a help­ing hand in im­prov­ing the sports fa­cil­i­ties as well as ed­u­ca­tional set-up for the hos­tel in­hab­i­tant un­der so­cial reach out pro­gramme.

Ear­lier, Sim­ran­deep Singh de­clared the Kushti fa­cil­ity (mud akhara) open amidst chant­ing of vedic mantras and per­form­ing of puja at the Akhara site. He also wit­nessed two in­au­gu­ral bouts that took place among young in­hab­i­tants of the hos­tel.

Guest of hon­our, chief spokesper­son RSS J&K, Prant Karyaba, Parshotam Dadichi threw light on the im­por­tant his­toric as­pects of sports and West­ern­iza­tion of the tra­di­tional In­dian sports and events. He told the gath­er­ing that Akha­ras ( Kushti fa­cil­ity) help to in­cul­cate the spirit of love for mother land.

State or­ga­niz­ing sec­re­tary of the Sewa Bharti, Su­nil Gorkha pre­sented a de­tailed re­port of the ac­tiv­i­ties of the or­gan­i­sa­tion tar­get­ing the poor and de­serv­ing sec­tion of the so­ci­ety ir­re­spec­tive of caste and creed. Sec­re­tary J&K Kreeda Bharti, Ra­jesh Chan­der Sharma pre­sented a de­tailed re­port of ac­tiv­i­ties of the or­ga­ni­za­tion. Pres­i­dent of J&K In­dian Style Wrestling As­so­ci­a­tion and man be­hind the ini­tia­tive, Shiv Ku­mar Sharma ex­plained in length the story of wrestling in Ka­tra that made a mild be­gin­ning in 1983 with a small dan­gal and took the shape of an In­ter­na­tional event (maha dan­gal) in­volv­ing for­eign wrestlers. He stressed the need for in­volv­ing lo­cal sports pro­mot­ers and en­thu­si­asts in the de­ci­sion mak­ing sports body of SMVDSB. He also urged the CEO of the Board for sports equip­ments and set­ting up a smart class for the Disha Ch­ha­travaas Ka­tra.

The event also marked felic­i­ta­tion of newly elected Coun­cil­lors of Ka­tra Mu­nic­i­pal Com­mit­tee and Mem­bers of Press Club Ka­tra by the CEO on be­half of Se­nior Cit­i­zens Fo­rum Ka­tra (Regd.) and the Ka­tra In­dian Style Wrestling As­so­ci­a­tion.

The or­ga­niz­ers of the 14th "Mis­sion-dosti" In­ter­na­tional In­dian Style Khusti Maha Dan­gal, Ka­tra In­dian Style Wrestling As­so­ci­a­tion also fe­lic­i­tated the spon­sor or­ga­ni­za­tions and in­di­vid­u­als who helped in the suc­cess­ful con­duct of the mega event. Prom­i­nent among th­ese or­ga­niz­ers were SMVDSB, J&K Tourism Depart­ment Bank, HDFC Bank, NHPC Ltd., J&K Po­lice, J&K State Sports Coun­cil, Depart­ment of Youth Ser­vices and Sports (DYSS), CRPF 6th BN Ka­tra, Life In­sur­ance Cor­pa­tion, Jamkash Ve­hi­clades Pvt Lim­ited, Ho­tel Shanker Palace and Dis­trict Ad­min­is­tra­tion.

Wel­come ad­dress was pre­sented by gen­eral sec­re­tary of Ka­tra In­dian Style Wrestling As­so­ci­a­tion Raj Ku­mar Padha while vote of thanks pre­sented by vice-pres­i­dent Se­nior Cit­i­zens Wel­fare Fo­rum Ka­tra (Regd.) Sukhdev Singh. Func­tion was com­pared by Ajay Singh. Prom­i­nent per­sons present on the oc­ca­sion in­cluded Naresh Ku­mar (Pappu Lakri), So­han Singh (Sonu), Ex. Sarpanch Sham Singh, Retd. S. P Prithvi Raj Sharma, Rakesh Wazir, Sham Lal Ke­sar, Retd. Tehsil­dar Bansi Lal Tidyal, so­cial ac­tivist and wrestling pro­moter Ram Paul Sharma, Ramink Nowadha, Mubarik Singh, Ash­wani Kar­toch, Dr Sa­gathan Ma­tri Bhar­tiya Shik­sha Samiti, Pardeep Ku­mar, Com­man­dant CRPF 6th Bn, Jatin­der Ku­mar Gupta, ASP Ka­tra Naresh Singh, Chief Sports Of­fi­cer, J&K State Sports Coun­cil, Hazi Ab­dul Qy­oom, Zonal Head J&K Bank Ud­ham­pur, Anand Pal Singh and vi­cepres­i­dent HDFC Bank Jammu, Sachin Mahajan were guests of hon­our.
