The DLF Emporio Design Awards 2013-14 took place on 18 February, the second edition of the event. The jury included designers Vineet Bahl, Leena Singh (of Ashima Leena), fashion guru and stylist Gautum Kalra, FDCI (Fashion Design Council of India) president Sunil Sethi, fashion editor Bandana Tiwari and senior vice- president of DLF Emporio, Dinaz Madhukar. The jury was seen judging and ranking the designs of the contestants in the DLF Emporio’s atrium. The theme this year was to celebrate five years of luxury in India by “Reinventing the Classics” such as the iconic Burberry trench, Dior bar jacket, Fendi baguette or even the traditional Indian sari. The budding designers hailed from institutes such as Pearl Fashion Academy, NIFT, Amity University, G.D Goenka School of Fashion, J.D. Institute of Fashion and London College of Fashion. The winner of “Student Designer of the Year 2014”, and also the People’s Choice award, went to Purwa Ku- mari Sharan from NIFT, Gandhinagar; she designed stunning sari-inspired earrings. To start her career, Purwa now gets a chance to intern with a leading Indian designer and also the opportunity to design and place her collection at the DLF Emporio Luxury Shopping Festival in April 2014. The two runners-up prizes for the “Student Designer of the Year 2014” awards were won by Aiken Derissaliyeva from G.D Goenka School of Fash- ion, who submitted her design in the accessory category and Anubha Jain from Pearl Academy of Fashion, who sent her design in apparel category; a “denim sari”.

On this occasion, Madhukar said: “The field of fashion design is constantly evolving. DLF Emporio aims to highlight and bring forward amazing talents across India. This unique platform is a gateway to the world of opportunities for many of these emerging designers.”
