TRINamool pays homage to JaN saNgh fouNdeR

-

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has done the unthinkable according to “secular” standards. Her government has paid homage to one of the Jan Sangh founders, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, who had iconic status in Bengal, but was never remembered during the 34year Left rule. His photograph was put up at the Keortala crematorium, where his statue also stands. All Trinamool Congress MPs and MLAs were directed to offer their tribute to Mukherjee on his death anniversary this week. This is being seen as a sign of her increasing proximity to the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. In fact, she even sent a crate full of mangoes to the Prime Minister, his Cabinet colleagues and the President of India. But unlike her earlier practice, she did not send any mangoes to Congress president Sonia Gandhi. When her officers asked whether they should include Sonia Gandhi’s name on the list, she replied in the negative.
