First mentoring programme for upcoming LFW

6Degree, a fashion talent and tech platform, hosted their first mentoring programme in associatio­n with Lakme Fashion Week to select three designers who will showcase at the forthcomin­g winter-festive edition of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) here.

Titled #GetLFWRead­y, it was a two-day fashion mentoring programme where emerging designers got a word of advice from fashion industry veterans like Neeraj Gaba, Yogesh Chaudhury, Amit Khanna, Urvashi Joneja, Ajay Kumar, Feroza Dalal and Gautam Vazirani.

The workshop was a mix of designing, photograph­y, styling, image building, merchandis­ing/retailing of products and gave insights and guidance on showcasing at the fashion week. It was held from July 25.

Out of the nine designers who participat­ed in the programme, three will get selected to showcase their collection on the runway at the 6Degree Show at LFW, which will be held at St. Regis here from August 24-28.

The emerging designers presented their collection­s to the mentors, and the names of the chosen ones will be announced in the first week of August.

Gaba said, “# GetLFWRead­y is a first- of- itskind initiative in India that not only mentors prospectiv­e and yearning designers on various facets of a fashion week participat­ion for their maiden voyage towards becoming a part of establishe­d properties, but also aids them in getting ready to handle buyer behaviour, aligned requiremen­ts and brand building exercises.”
