AN icebeRg is comiNg to the gulf

-

ABU DHABI: In an attempt to address UAE’s drinking water problem, the Madsar-based National Advisor Bureau Limited plans to tow an iceberg from Antarctica, reported. An iceberg would be carefully selected for shape and size, and then it’d be fitted with a giant insulated skirt at the waterline. The pulling of the iceberg is expected to start in early 2018 and it will take a year to bring it to the east coast of the UAE. Blocks will be chipped off the iceberg above the waterline and then crushed into water, before being stored in large tanks and filtered through a water processing plant. The company also believes it can be another tourist attarction for the Gulf.
