Q. What led you to become a hotelier?

A. In all honesty, I don’t know. I didn’t start in the hospitality sector. I began working in the real estate business, which I didn’t enjoy at all. During that, I met a lot of wise businessmen who advised me to choose a business which I loved and was passionate about. Finally, a 10-day Vipassana course made me realise my calling towards hospitality.

Q. What do you do in your spare time?

A. I enjoy playing board games with my family and watching documentaries. I thoroughly enjoy travelling and exploring new places and their respective cultures.

Q. What is the most challenging aspect of running a hotel?

A. The most challenging aspect is getting the right manpower to run the hotel. In an industry where there is so much competition, it isn’t easy to secure the right manpower at the right cost. Also, securing support from government is extremely challenging.

Q. What is your biggest motivation in life?

A. My biggest motivation comes from seeing the achievements of my great-grandfather. He was a remarkable entrepreneur, he single-handedly set up our business ventures in a time when India was struggling. He worked towards the development of India. I hope to become half the person he was.

Q. What is success according to you?

A. Success for everyone is different, it is their own measure, so for me, success would be when one is truly happy and content with their contribution in their professional and personal life.
