Po­ets set the mood, speak of in­flu­ences

Mum­bai: As the evening set in at the Times Lit­Fest 2016 on Satur­day, au­di­ences turned the peotic page in the com­pany of some great po­ets. Ti­tled ‘Po­etry in the Heat and Dust — The Ivory Tower is of­fi­cially dis­man­tled’ renowned po­ets Ruth Padel, Steven J Fowler and Gieve Pa­tel con­verses with Ran­jit Hoskote of in­flu­ences be­hind their work.

Padel read out from her book — Tid­ings: A Christ­mas Jour­ney, in which she speaks of the fes­ti­val be­yond just the fam­ily hearth and the cel­e­bra­tions. For Pa­tel, his med­i­cal prac­tice has been a great in­flu­ence on his writ­ings.
