Powai boy murder: Cops find ‘weapons’
Mumbai: The police team probing the kidnap and murder of a 10-yearold Powai boy recovered a piece of cloth and the boulder that was used to kill him allegedly by a two youngsters. Police said the prime suspect, Amar Singh (20), wanted to kidnap Ritesh Singh, a Class III student, ever since he saw Rs20,000 cash with the boy’s father, Babloo (37), during a visit to his Tunga village house to play with the boy.
Police said Amar planned the kidnap after he went to the boy’s house on Sunday afternoon and took him to play in the neighbourhood. “Amar may have got scared after I called and asked him to co- me back with my son. It is then he may have decided to kill my son.... If he wanted money he should have at least called me once,” the boy’s father told TOI.
He said he helped Amar in getting a job in a fabrication workshop nearby. “On Sunday, Amar took my son to his workshop where my son tried to run back home suspecting something amiss. However, he convinced my son to accompany him to Bhayander,” he said. A Powai police officer said, “Amar with his friend strangled the boy with a piece of cloth and smashed his face with a boulder after the murder and dumped the body at a desolate place in Bhayander (East).”
